Albert Cummings has the magic touch when it comes to electric, guitar-driven blues. His passion connects him to the audience and he will show off his high-energy take on the genre at The Mint on February 15.

Cummings has been impressing music fans with his fast-flying guitar music and outstanding lyrics that fall in the same category as some of the greats like Johnny Winter and Stevie Ray Vaughan. His new album Believe is out Friday, February 14, and he’ll be celebrating the new record at The Mint (Doors at 7:30, Get Tickets Here).

The Massachusetts-based Cummings has shared the stage with some of the greats including Buddy Guy and B.B. King, who helped guide him in developing his traditional, but modern blues-rock approach. The music has brought him notoriety and many devoted fans across the U.S. and beyond.

In addition to being an outstanding guitarist in the vein of the best of the blues players, Cummings has an upbeat personality that draws the people. Cummings writes from the heart and one of the songs getting buzz off the Believe album is “Queen of Mean,” a stinging critique on one woman in particular. “Red Rooster” is another track that evokes all the feeling of throwback times to the best of the blues.

Cummings came onto the blues-rock scene in the early 2000s and emerged as a performer to watch. His collection Live at the ‘62 Center won him praise and underscored his versatility as singer-songwriter and live performer.

Opening for Cummings on Saturday night at The Mint is fellow Massachusetts musician Matt Michienzie. Like the headliner, Michienzie was influenced inspired by Johnny Cash, Stevie Ray Vaughan and The Band.

Michienzie takes the blues in a different direction, blending his style with the likes of Dave Matthews and Blues Traveler. Check out his website here.
