Saul Williams has been backstage with The Kills for a while but only now will they perform together.
Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince have released two new videos to promote cover songs “List of Demands,” by Williams, and “Steppin’ Razor” by Peter Tosh. The new covers represent efforts by The Kills to try out diverse, new sounds.

The Kills Put New Spin on ‘List of Demands’
In The Kills “List of Demands” video, a diverse range of actors and dancers are featured in a powerful performance, enunciating the troubles of our times. The song has been on a Nike Commercial, in “Orange Is The New Black” and of course there is the original Williams video, which is considerably more upbeat than the latest version. Check out both videos and judge for yourself:
You can pre-order “List of Demands” here.
See the original Williams video, which has a speedier tempo and takes place at a party, rather than a dark ominous setting:
The Kills and The Black Experience
The Kills continue to explore the black experience with a new take on the reggae hit “Steppin Razor” by Tosh, who has collaborated with Mick Jagger and others.
Take a look at the original Tosh version with the man himself performing at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland on July 6, 1979. Video courtesy of Orgyfication:
The Kills Backstage with Saul Williams
Mosshart and Hince are known for their original music and wild performances. One viewer of the new video wrote “I don’t know how I feel about this” and unless The Kills suddenly don’t have anything to write about, that kind of sums it up. Hince had an explanation for his fans.
Song Played Backstage
“‘List of Demands’ was so impactful to us-it was the kind of song that would come on backstage and everyone would stop what they were doing and stand up,” Hince said. “The more I found myself listening to the lyrics, the more I heard in them, and found myself singing along with goose bumps.”
Seems Williams will be joining The Kills at The Regent show in Los Angeles, perhaps Tosh will be joining The Kills at different junctures of their upcoming tour.
The Kills will be at The Regent Aug. 13 and at The Glass House in Pomona Aug. 14.
