Ra Ra Riot Single ‘Water’ Gets New Remix Treatment from Canadian Electronic Producer Inukshuk

By JOHN DALY

In late 2016, Ra Ra Rio held a Wavo remix competition, inviting the world’s best remixers to try their hand at reimagining their hit single, “Water.”

Canadian producer Inukshuk — also known as Kyle Anderson — won the competition with the band selecting his remix as their favorite from among hundreds of entries.

This is an excellent rendition of the hit single and is a smart marketing tool that extends the life of the song.  This kind of contest probably can’t be done with every song out there, but for some of the well-known and well-loved tunes this is a clever idea.

The Canadian Inukshuk has been producing since 2012, in a variety of electronic genres.  He’s probably best known for his singles “Happy Accidents” and “A World Away” which together have racked up more than five million plays on YouTube.

Ra Ra Riot released the album Need Your Light last year to great reviews.  Like with “Water,” the album features production from collaborator Rostam Batmanglij.  The band spent last year not only celebrating their 10-year anniversary as a band but also touring the U.S. The band’s 2016 year was capped off with a massive tour as support for Young The Giant that included a show at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall and The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.
