Carla Olson revives the country alternative sound with her new album, Have Harmony, Will Travel 2, set for a March 20 debut on Sunset Blvd. Records.
The Texas-bred, Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter performs some classics with fellow musicians on the album, which revisits her Austin rocker roots.
The album is a follow-up to the 2013 collection Have Harmony, Will Travel, on which Olson collaborated vocally with such artists like Peter Case, Richie Furay of Buffalo Springfield, John York of the Byrds, Scott Kempner of the Del-Lords, and Juice Newton.
Olson said Have Harmony, Will Travel 2 was inspired by her days as an aspiring musician, listening to Texas top-40 radio, KNOW.
“You’d hear everything from ‘Love Is Blue’ by Paul Mauriat to The Zombies,” she said. “Even before I got into high school, I had a wonderful variety of music hitting me. I had this catalog of songs in my head that I wanted to play with a band, or I’d hear a vocalist who maybe wouldn’t have done a particular song, actually recording that song.”
