Hannah Cohen to Release ‘Earthstar Mountain’

Singer/songwriter Hannah Cohen announced her fourth full-length album, “Earthstar Mountain,” due March 28 via Bella Union / Congrats Records.

Produced by Sam Evian at Flying Cloud Recordings and featuring many collaborators such as Sufjan Stevens, Clairo, Liam Kazar, Oliver Hill and Sean Mullins, Earthstar Mountain is a love letter to the Catskills and in the interconnectedness of all things: in her past, present, future and alternative selves, in her friends––here and gone––and in the mountain that peers through her windows.

The lead single “Earthstar” highlights the risk of love and how you can never really know someone, even those closest to you. The kaleidoscopically serene synths tell us there is a peacefulness, a beauty, in facing this truth.

“For me “Earthstar” is about the complexity of connection, the risk and vulnerability of love. The song grapples with the idea that ultimately, we will never completely know someone.”

Jesika Von Rabbit Joins Electric Children on ‘Reptilian Royalty’

Los Angeles band Electric Children has returned with a new single, “Reptilian Royalty” from their forthcoming album “Fantasy Land.” Jesika Von Rabbit, known for her creative music-making and innovative sound, is the star of the track, crooning in her captivating voice “…Ministry of Love, Ministry of Lust, Winston and Julia, Forbidden Love…”

Besides Von Rabbit, AKA the “Queen of the Hi-Desert,” “Reptilian Royalty” enlists the talents of a range of additional friends and locals. The single also features Poppy Jean Crawford, Chanell O’Farrill, Maxine Brumer, and Holly West, whom bandleader, Ramblin’ Eddie Lopez, describes as “My Evil Ronettes.”

“Reptilian Royalty“ is available now on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and more.

On March 15, Electric Children’s 60’s Plastic Playhouse celebrates a Pop Up Release Party with Chippy and the Psychedelic Dirtbags + Nick Oliveri Death Acoustic. The event is hosted by Ivonna Cadaver at 1645 N. La Brea Ave Hollywood.

The Delines Ponder the World with ‘The Haunting Thoughts’

The Delines share their new single “The Haunting Thoughts,” the next offering from their upcoming album “Mr. Luck & Ms. Doom,” out Feb. 14 via El Cortez Records. Led by tender piano and sauntering instrumentation, the poignant song tells the story of a woman who’s reeling from an existential crisis.

“‘The Haunting Thoughts’ is about a woman who can’t shake the fear that the world she’s in is going to collapse,” said Willy Vlautin, songwriter and guitarist for the band. “She sees all this desperation around her on the streets of Portland, Oregon, and she’s worried it’ll catch her, too – that she’ll end up on the streets. We wanted that uncertainty and vulnerability inside the fabric of the song. It’s one of those rare tunes that worked from the get-go.”

Nova Twins Conquer Fear of ‘Monsters’

Nova Twins unleashed the electrifying new single “Monsters,” which premiered yesterday as the “Hottest Record in the World” on BBC Radio 1 with Jack Saunders.

Blending raw intensity with boundary-pushing creativity “Monsters” showcases the band’s fearless artistry. Recorded with renowned producer Rich Costey (Foo Fighters, Deftones, Sam Fender, Muse), “Monsters” emerges as a future anthem for a jilted generation.

The band’s Amy Love and Georgia South explain the message behind the song: “’Monsters’ is about awakening to and understanding your mental health. Growing up, we often look outward, absorbing what life throws at us.”

The music video, shot with director and long time Nova Twins collaborator Harry Lindley, highlights the band’s signature high-energy performance and musical artistry.

Trash Mountain by Lily Seabird Honors Friend

Burlington-based songwriter Lily Seabird announced her new album “Trash Mountain,” due out April 4th via Lame-O Records. The almost titular lead single “Trash Mountain (1pm)” channels the overwhelming comedown of returning home from tour into a spry blend of woozy slide guitar and harmonica.

“It started with thinking about touring and then, late stage capitalism, technology, climate change, my shortening attention span, but also shifting relationships and our ability to deal with the past and move forward,” she said. “I kinda just ended up at my house feeling really grateful for my friends. The house I live at has been referred to as Trash Mountain because it’s on top of an old landfill on the edge of town. It’s also the last place my friend Ryan went before she died, it’s really strange how a lot of our close friends wound up moving in here after she passed, she feels very tied to it spiritually.”
