Café Tacvba is the headlining musical group at the 20th annual Dia de los Muertos celebration at Hollywood Forever on Saturday Nov. 2.
Café Tacvba, from Ciudad Satélite, Mexico, came to popularity in the 1990s and incorporates themes of peace, harmony and ecology into the music.
The Dia de los Muertos theme this year is the Monarch Butterfly, which makes its winter home in the Mexican state of Michoacán. Michoacán is considered one of two cultural areas of Mexico Dia de los Muertos has been celebrated for the longest period of time and with the most vigor.
The Monarch butterfly is a symbol representing the Dreamers and immigrants whose journeys take the path between Mexico and the U.S. The Monarch butterfly is expected to be put on the endangered species list.
The event takes place from noon to midnight with the Ceremonial Altar setup on Friday, Nov. 1, from noon into the night.
