Gang of Youths have relocated from their beloved Australia to London and the change is reflected in their new song “the angel of 8th ave.” Gang of Youths’ bold sound has gotten a “pep to its step” with “the angel of 8th ave.,” and its accompanying video about love in a new location.

Gang of Youths last album, Go Farther in Lightness (2017) was well received and the band now moves into uncharted yet familiar territory, absorbing the London sound and incorporating it into the new music.

Dave Le’aupepe’s lyrics reflect his devotion to simple conversation, and who knew how catchy the English language can be. The beloved frontman’s voice quenches the soul like a long-anticipated drink revives the body.

“The angel of 8th ave.” was recorded in the Gang of Youths’ studio, mixed by the Grammy Award-winning Craig Silvey, known for his work with Arcade Fire and The National.

The fast-paced video that accompanies “the angel of 8th ave.” was shot in North London, featuring Le’aupepe and his famously casual frontman style. The video was directed by Joel Barney, filmed in the band’s neighborhood of Angel, North London.

The video focuses on Le’aupepe and his charisma as he and the rest of the band move through sections of their new locale.

Gang of Youths formed in Sydney, Australia in 2011, and have made a big impression with their two albums to date, The Positions (2015) and Go Farther In Lightness (2017), the latter of which won four prestigious ARIA Awards, including Album of the Year and Best Group.

Gang of Youths in concert should not be missed. Regardless of what new style or new location the band takes on, Gang of Youths gives a kick-ass live performance that leaves concert-goers breathless and wanting more.

“the angel of 8th ave.” is completed by Max Dunn (bass), Jung Kim (guitar, keyboards), Donnie Borzestowski (drums), Tom Hobden (keyboards, guitar, violin), and Le’aupepe (vocals, guitar).
