It’s amazing what you’ll find in your closet, so imagine if you’re Nikki Sixx of Mötley Crüe.

On Instagram Saturday, the famous Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx showed fans some long-lost items he retrieved from storage and in his closet, including a demo cassette for the 1983 album Shout at the Devil.

The California rocker also showed a few choice items including a poster and promotional biographies of the band in verbiage he may or may have not put together.

Sense of Humor About The Beginnings

Sixx left the live report running while he took a couple of breaks to reach behind him for prized possessions or to turn the lights on.  At one point he read through some early PR biographies on the young players in Mötley Crüe.

“My daughter asked if I wrote this,” he told viewers in his impromptu social media report. “It’s kind of an insult.“

Nikki Sixx Does His Own Version of Antiques Roadshow

Sixx, who spent much of his life on the Sunset strip in Los Angeles, read early introductions of the band off the paper in his hand and made hilarious side commentary. He said he thought the wording could have been his own writing.

“On bass guitar and vocals and at twenty-two-year-old … Nikki is an exceptional songwriter heavily influenced by Cheap Trick (which is true) and is the inspiration for Mötley Crüe’s music (so I took all the credit there), Mick Mars at 25 may be Newfoundland’s greatest claim to fame (Mick Mars lied, he is not from Newfoundland)… Tommy Lee at age 21 on drums is high energy personified (that doesn’t even make sense) … When Tommy picks up the sticks no one sits still …”

‘Vince Neil Will Have the Girls’ Hearts Throbbing’

Then he saved the funniest for last: …”Vince Neil (and they spelled his name wrong) the fair-haired 21-year-old will have the girls’ hearts throbbing … Vince commands the stage and his every move is watched intensely…”

Sixx Finds Poster from Whisky and Troubadour Gigs

Then, Sixx held up a flip-out poster from the early Sunset Strip days.

“Here’s a poster that showed we played the Whisky, Pookie’s Sandwhich Shop, Starwood and the Troubadour – it’s a rare find.”

Sixx closed out his Instagram broadcast by holding up what he believed to be a demo of Shout at the Devil saying the cassette included an intro track that was never used but also the track ‘Knock ‘Em Dead Kid.”  He said the demo seemed to be in the same order as the record. “So I’m wondering if this is a final mix of the record? I don’t think so, I think it’s a demo.”

He signed off with “Have a great weekend and if you’re into football, Go Rams.”
