Dita Von Teese, the iconic queen of burlesque, showed her throngs of devotees how to really take it off in style at the O2 Apollo in Manchester UK.
Von Teese put on an amazing show that paid attention to all the details, from the outstanding accompanying performers and costumes to choreography, stage sets and lighting, during the Manchester edition of her dazzling Glamonatrix Tour.
The audience were decked out in their finest costumes as vintage ruled, it was a must for any self-respecting glamour king or queen.
Jonny McGovern was the “The Gay Pimp” host for the evening, he had everyone in stitches with his witty repartee. The audience was treated to around 11 different sets in total.
Von Teese brought along several performers as part of her show, her male dancers (Vontourage guys) and also Dirty Martini the buxom blondie, with the tasseled twirling pasties: Làszlò Major, the dancing, stripper/ pole dancer; Toscacyr an aerialist, performing inside a huge hoop, Jett Adore the camp stripping matador and Lana Fox, wild stripping dancer extraordinaire.
This extravagant show underscored the artistry of Von Teese and her array of collaborators. This was a show to rival the grand Moulin Rouge in Paris, and we were fortunate to experience it in the grand Grade II listed Art Deco building of the Apollo Theatre in Manchester.
