Mark Lanegan, whose work covered a range of music and styles has passed away at the age of 57. A cause of death has not been released.
Lanegan, who was also an author, is known for his collaborative work with a variety of musicians, from Queens of the Stone Age and the Gutter Twins with Greg Dulli, to Neko Case, UNKLE and The Duke Spirit. In 2016 he teamed with Eagles of Death Metal and Josh Homme at the Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles to raise money for Afghan Whigs guitarist Dave Rosser.
Lanegan recently released an album on which he teamed with Joe Cardamone, called Dark Mark vs. Skeleton Joe.
At the time, Lanegan said: “The fact that it’s not like anything either one of us have done before is what makes this so interesting for me. When you have done as much stuff as Joe and I, you have to constantly search for the different and challenging to keep yourself engaged.”
No cause of death has been released.
