Rickie Lee Jones Gives Virtual Chat April 10

By JOHN DALY

Rickie Lee Jones tells her life story in her new book, “Last Chance Texaco: Chronicles of an American Troubadour” in which she captures life on the road and the events that drove her down the path to musicianship.

Jones will hold a virtual conversation about her new book, “Last Chance Texaco: Chronicles of an American Troubadour” on April 10, presented by Book Soup and The Troubadour.
“Last Chance Texaco: Chronicles of an American Troubadour” tells a story of risk and triumph who emerged to become more than a two-time Grammy Award-winner, she turned adversity and hopelessness into music.

In the book, Jones takes the reader on a journey from her youth through her older years. She was a runaway as a teen and had a loving relationship with Tom Waits. Her songs like “Chuck-E’s in Love,” “Weasel and the White Boys Cool,” “Danny’s All-Star Joint,” and “Easy Money” tell of her stories and the characters in her life, as does the book. She admittedly ran with some interesting characters who ran the gamut.

Co-presenter Troubadour club opened in 1957, and has come to be known as a legendary establishment. Located in West Hollywood the club has helped launch the careers of musicians like Elton John, James Taylor and Joni Mitchell who graced the stage in the early days. Like all of the Los Angeles music venues, such as The Mint, The Echo and others, the club has not had any acts on its stage in a year.

Since artists such as Rickie Lee Jones got their start in small clubs, it’s important to remember to buy the store merch, and sign up for events as possible. In the spirit of supporting the stages, Book Soup will donate $5 of every event ticket directly to the Troubadour.

This event ticket includes a hardcover copy of Last Chance Texaco, as well as online access to the event for each household. Purchasers will receive a link and password to attend the Crowdcast event on the afternoon of Friday, April 10.

Please note: Ticket options include in-store pick up, shipped domestically (allow 2-3 weeks for delivery), or shipped internationally (allow 4-5 weeks for delivery). Books will be mailed to you after the event. For those who choose in-store pick up, you will be contacted by Book Soup via email following the event and alerted as to when your book will be ready for pick up.
