Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones and Eddie Vedder Play One World: Together at Home

By JOHN DALY

Paul McCartney, the Rolling Stones and Eddie Vedder were among those on “One World: Together at Home” on Saturday night.

Somewhat akin to the fundraising multi-network show that ran after 911, the “One World” broadcast was one giant PSA that also helped to get out the word to contribute to first responders.

But The Rolling Stones stole the show with “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.” What is so endearing is that these multimillion-dollar recording artists took time out of their quarantines to raise money for first responders.

While at least one-third of the United States workers have lost their jobs, we are all waiting for the day when we will be allowed to go to a live show again. One World: Together at Home brought the best in entertainment.

McCartney sang “Lady Madonna” in a version that paid tribute to the first responders.

Elton John performed “I’m Still Standing,” and for Elton, he’s a national treasure and the fans are happy he is still standing for sure.

Maluma gave a heartfelt performance of “Carnaval.”

Eddie Vedder sang the title track off the new album Gigaton in his home, surrounded by candles and playing the organ.

Burna Boy gave a special performance in a starkly and stately set that echoed his performance and Billie Joe Armstrong did a solo unplugged version of the Green Day song “Wake Me Up When September Ends.”

But there is only “One World” in our universe and that is “One World” written by Todd Rundgren.

Check out one of the best songs written by one of the world’s best artists ever in a recently discovered clip from VH1.
