Nile Rodgers Keynotes SXSW Music Amid Diverse Musical Offerings from Peelander Z to Death Valley Girls

Legendary producer Nile Rogers will be the music keynote speaker at SXSW 2017, which, musically will be more diverse than ever.

With performers ranging from Jesse Colin Young and Modern English, to Peelander Z, Death Valley Girls and The Sloths, the annual Austin-based tech-music-film festival, March 13-19, continues its innovative agenda.

There are expected to be 498 performers from all over the world and encompassing all genres descending on Austin, the university town. The annual festival helps the indie community to do as its slogan reminds: “Keep Austin Weird.”

The conferences at SXSW are equally interesting with topics addressing everything from how music can handle the aftermath of Brexit and using new music tech, to a look into the success of the Vans Warped Tour. Check the SXSW website.  See SXSW California Rocker 

Rogers, who has produced everyone from Bette Midler to David Bowie, will make the music keynote address. He will be accompanied by fellow keynoter Zane Lowe, lead DJ and innovator of Apple Beats 1 Radio.

Among the California bands set to play are: The Ceremonies; Chain Gang of 1974; Cherry Glazerr, Death Valley Girls; Dead Meadow; Dear Boy; Girlpool; JJUUJJUU; The Regrettes; Sad Girl; The Sloths; Distractor; Tennis System and Zipper Club.
