Soulful reggae fusion band Chili Guys have released their amusing and upbeat new video for the track “Listening to Reggae.” The Miami group has also announced an upcoming single, “Power of the Sun,” out on June 21.
Chili Guys have built a grassroots following in Miami with their laid-back charm, genre-blending sound, and performances that feel equal parts jam session and beach party. Their feel-good music and positive message have helped shape a distinctive, infectious sound that resonates with audiences of all ages.
The band is composed of Michael Anthony Halley (vocals, guitar), Alejandro Gabriel Gonzalez (vocals), Andy Gonzalez (vocals), Michael Richard Vanasek (vocals, guitar) Frank Alejandro Vasallo (bass) Adrian Gines (Drums), Benji Rodriguez (keys, trombone), Branden Decaso (sax, percussion).
The music video for “Listening to Reggae” stars actor Victor Aldrich navigating a hilariously disastrous day, set against the song’s upbeat, skank-driven energy. With “Listening to Reggae,” Chili Guys pay homage to the global reggae phenomenon, which brought the band together, and most notably Bob Marley and the Wailers.
“Reggae brings the world together,” Chili Guys said. “There’s something about this one that feels bigger than us; it taps into a rhythm and energy that people all over the world can feel.”
The music video was produced by Leeza Jarrar along with creative director Gabe Sanchez and DP Lukas Suski.
The band’s music video for “Listening to Reggae,” visually interprets the track of the same name, off the recently released LP, “Chili Island.”
On the heels of the video release, the band said its upcoming single, “Power of the Sun,” arrives in alignment with the summer solstice, and lyrically carries a message of moving through change with clarity and ease: “Feel the power of the sun… Walking on sunshine… Don’t waste your life, spread your light, take your time, be alright.”
Fans can catch the band at Flow Live events, held monthly at Flow State Studios, where they share the stage with local talent in the greater Miami area.
Elevating their recordings to new heights for live shows, Chili Guys are set to bring their sun-soaked sound to audiences across the Florida coast and beyond. With a touch of humor and an undeniable sense of camaraderie, Chili Guys turn every set into a celebration.
Whether you’re a longtime fan or just hearing them for the first time, their shows offer something real, an invitation to let go, move your feet, and be part of the island they’re building, one song at a time.
“Power of the Sun” will be available on all major streaming platforms.
