Release – Winnetka Bowling League will release their debut album Sha La La on May 31. The album aligns with their catalog of numerous singles and EPs, once again showing the band’s ability to craft energetic and emotional power-pop songs.
On Sha La La, the band tackles themes of youth and nostalgia with wit and a core of infectious hooks. The LP is also “a document of an artist rediscovering his love for music: A back-to-basics and grounded release that finds frontman Matthew Koma taking risks while conversing with his younger self,” the band said.
On Sha La La, the Los Angeles trio of singer and guitarist Matthew Koma, his brother Kris Mazzarisi on drums, and keyboardist Sam Beresford play more than 10 transportive and welcoming tracks. The band stuffs the album with masterful melody-making, sardonic lyrical specificity, and a sense of Rock N Roll timelessness. Koma’s influences are Elvis Costello and Squeeze.
