Ozzy Osbourne, Peter Frampton, Lenny Kravitz and Cher are among the 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Nominees it was announced Saturday.
This year’s list of nominees covers a wide array of musical styles ranging from the Rock N Roll of defunct ’90s Brit band Oasis, and the singer-songwriter groove of the Dave Matthews Band, to the elegant R&B tunes of Sade and the funk of Kool & The Gang.
The selection of nominees has grown more diverse each year, as women and people of color rightfully take their place in the history of rock’s founding sound-makers. Osbourne who is already in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Black Sabbath (2006), gets a second go-around, this time for his singular work.
“I’m deeply honored to receive this news from the @RockHall,” Osbourne wrote on social media. “To be one of the few musicians who’s being considered for a second entry, now as a solo artist, is something I could never have imagined. After 44 years as a solo artist the fact that I can continue to record music and receive this recognition is something I am incredibly proud of.”
Mariah Carey, who is among the five women musicians on the list took to social media to express her delight at the nomination. Mary J. Blige, Cher and Sade round out the list of influential American women on the annual ballot.
“Beyond excited and thrilled to be among these legendary nominees for this year’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction,” Carey posted. “Congratulations to all!”

The illustrious group of nominees for 2024 is completed by Foreigner, Jane’s Addiction, Kool & the Gang, Eric B. & Rakim, Lenny Kravitz and A Tribe Called Quest.
John Sykes, chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation said the list of nominees “reflects the diverse artists and music that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame honors and celebrates.”
