Charley Crockett is a self-made, honky tonk success story.
Crockett is taking the world by storm travelling town to town with his band getting people up and dancing to his Texas-Lousiana swinging tunes.
Crockett is ‘Grateful’ for the Fans
“I can’t tell you how grateful I am to be in Los Angeles,” the big-brimmed Crockett told a packed house full of fans at The Mint in Los Angeles Wednesday night. His current tour includes stops in San Francisco, Sacramento and Solana Beach, supporting The Turnpike Troubadours.
Crockett is grateful because it seems to him like it was only yesterday when he was busking on the streets of New Orleans, trying to get people to hear his music.
Descended from Davey Crockett
A true descendent of Davey Crockett, Charley’s pioneering spirit has led him and his music all over the country. He and his big-brimmed cowboy hat have even stepped into the subways of The Big Apple, where he’s played his lispy honky tonk guitar music for thousands of commuting New Yorkers.
A Suitcase Full of Songs and Merch
These days Crockett’s got four albums, a suitcase full of merch and an RV that he drives around the country bringing his music from town to town. For him, it’s paradise.
Crockett is in Touring Heaven
“I love what I do,” he told CaliforniaRocker.com. “I enjoy seeing the people have a good time and how they appreciate my music.”
Crockett blends honky tonk tunes in an alternative music fashion, much in the way Hank Williams was ahead of the curve in bringing a new sound to the classics.
His latest album, Lonesome As a Shadow, blends the best of classic American roots with his Louisiana-Texas bluesy style.
A Night of Great Music
Opening the night at The Mint was Ryan Hahn and the Believers, a rootsy Americana band that has good stage presence and captures the fans.
Making a special appearance with Charley Crockett was Dayna Rose, whose virtuoso fiddle playing added a touch of Nashville to the night.
