BMG and The Montreux Jazz Festival have today announced the release of “Roberta Flack: The Montreux Years,” due for release on June 26.
The live album brings together performances spanning four decades of Flack’s appearances at the Montreux Jazz Festival, from 1971 through to her final set in 2008.
Fully restored for the first time, the collection features tracks such as “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” and “Killing Me Softly With His Song.”
Ahead of the album’s release, the track “I’d Like To Be Baby To You,” taken from her 1990 Montreux Jazz Festival appearance, is available to stream now.
One of the most distinctive voices in music, Roberta Flack made history as the first artist to win back-to-back GRAMMY Awards for Record of the Year. “Roberta Flack: The Montreux Years” is the latest instalment in the Montreux Years series, celebrating the festival’s rich archive, which began with collections from musical titans Nina Simone and Etta James.
The album will be released in multiple-format configurations including 2-LP heavyweight vinyl, CD, download and all major streaming services, features a collection of Roberta Flack’s Montreux Jazz Festival performances spanning four decades, from her debut appearance in 1971 through to her last in 2008.
Fully restored and mastered for the first time by Tony Cousins at London’s Metropolis Studios, the unique recordings come with exclusive liner notes from Flack’s longtime manager, Suzanne Koga, and rare, unseen photography.
