Alyson Camus Rock Photos Win at National Arts and Entertainment Journalism Awards

STAFF REPORT – LOS ANGELES – Alyson Camus won second and third place in the Action Photo category of the 17th National Arts and Entertainment Journalism Awards, held Sunday Night at the Biltmore Millennium in Los Angeles.

Camus is a rock photographer and journalist who covers a range of musicians and performers, capturing remarkable images of those who love the stage, and their fans. In addition to her consistent photography work, Camus is also a prolific writer and author. She is a regular contributor to U.S. Rocker.

The National Arts & Entertainment Awards honors the work of reporters, editors and creatives in media from across the country. The annual event is produced by the Los Angeles Press Club.

Camus won for her photographs of Idol and Idles

Camus’ wins came for her images of Billy Idol performing at the annual Johnny Ramone birthday celebration at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, and Idles, the popular British punk band, performing on tour.

Camus has been documenting the work of musicians across Los Angeles for years and her work is accompanied by insightful words. She is also an author. In 2021, she published a book on the death of singer-songwriter Elliott Smith, called “A Question Mark – An Investigation Into the Mysterious Death of Elliott Smith” (Read more here).

The 17th National Arts and Entertainment Journalism Awards presented Melissa Etheridge with The Distinguished Storyteller Award, Tiffany Haddish with The Visionary Award,  Kevin Frazier with The Luminary Award and Kathy Bates with The Legend Award. Executive Director of the Los Angeles Press Club is Diana Ljungaeus.
