Hanson have released a cover of folk musician Nick Drake’s “Pink Moon” with an accompanying video. The song is one of two new recordings taken from the 20th anniversary re-release of the band’s third album, Underneath.
Hanson mark 20 years of independent music production with Underneath: Complete, an expanded deluxe edition of the hit 2004 album, to be available on October 4. A concert tour will accompany the new collection.
“Nick Drake’s hypnotic music made a deep impression on us while we were writing and recording Underneath,” said Taylor Hanson. “So much so that ‘Pink Moon’ is referenced in the lyrics of our song ‘Penny And Me.'”
Released by Hanson’s 3CG Records in 2004, Underneath received widespread acclaim. Underneath: Complete will include two brand new recordings, along with seven rare tracks from the original sessions.
Among the highlights are tracks previously heard only on special project releases and bootleg recordings of live performances, including collaborations with such icons as Carole King, Glenn Ballard, Matthew Sweet, and more.
Underneath: Complete arrives via 3CG Records on Friday, October 4. Pre-orders are available now.
Underneath: Complete was introduced with “Penny & Me (Moonlight Version),” a newly recorded take on the single highlighting Hanson’s signature harmonies.
