On Dave Grohl’s birthday today, the founder of the Foo Fighters celebrated the 25th anniversary year of the band’s first album via a social media post.
The 51-year-old Grohl also gave a hint that the coming year will be a big one for America’s beloved rock band.
“Holy Shit!!! 25 years?!” Grohl said on social media. “Thank You guys for being with us year after year…for singing along and making every show the best night of our lives. We’re JUST getting started, so Buckle Up, 2020… it’s going to be an INSANE year full of some seriously crazy shit…”
The first Foo Fighters album actually turns 25 on July 4 and the record was a culmination of all the songs Grohl had stored up since ending his time in Nirvana. Shop Foo Fighters here.
As the story goes, Grohl went into Seattle’s Robert Lang Studios and played guitar, drums, bass and was the vocalist on the new record. Barrett Jones produced and Greg Dulli of Afghan Whigs, who happened to be in the studio, played the guitar on the “X-Static” track.
That Foo Fighters record went on to win accolades, nominations and awards, and the rest is history. Oh, and Dave’s Backbeat BBQ business is thriving too.
