How It Works

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation Nominating Committee selects the group of musicians nominated. Ballots are sent to roughly 900 members of the music business, musicians and historians, as well as all living Rock Hall inductees. The five performers who get the most votes are in the induction class.

The top five vote-getters in the public poll form one ballot, which is weighted the same as the rest of the submitted ballots.

The artists — performers, composers and/or musicians — are eligible to be inducted 25 years after the release of their first commercial recording.
