Echo Park Rising brought out the best in undiscovered LA-area performers, as about 500 bands descended on Los Angeles area over a hot weekend.
The free summer festival staple continues to grow each year and the musicians push the envelope in terms of innovative music and experimental sound.
“I come to Echo Park Rising because I want to discover new bands,” said aspiring musician Jayne Wimes, who drives from San Bernardino each day — every year — to see the newest and most unusual bands out there. “The festival gives me inspiration and great ideas for my own music.”
Thousands of music fans and up-and-coming musicians hit the streets of the Echo Park enclave, watching bands perform everywhere from the Echoplex to the coffee shops and out on the sidewalks.
