Johnny Marr will support his brand new album Call The Comet, with two sold-out shows at Teragram Ballroom tonight and tomorrow, and with a fall tour.
Call The Comet was recorded with his band at Marr’s Crazy Face Studios in Manchester. The latest work, due June 15, follows the albums The Messenger, released in 2013 and Playland, released in 2014.
“Call The Comet is my own magic realism,” Marr says. “It’s set in the not-too-distant future and is mostly concerned with the idea of an alternative society. The characters in the songs are searching for a new idealism, although there are some personal songs in there too. It’s something that people like me can relate to.”
Interview: Johnny Marr ‘Fetish-izes’ Over Guitar
The famous guitarist recently told audiences how even as a young child he “fetish-ized” over the guitar, taking a plastic toy guitar, painting it and adding bottle caps for buttons. (See interview)
Hot tracks on Call The Comet include “Actor Attractor,” “Walk Into The Sea,” “Bug” and “Spiral Cities.” Marr plays “Spiral Cities” during his live shows and “Bug” has been in rotation on the web and terrestrial radio.
