The final day of KAABOO was a perfect throwback kind of a day as iconic rock stars kept festival-goers dancing and singing along on all three main stages. And it was the final day of KAABOO in Del Mar as well, as it was announced the festival will move to San Diego’s Petco Park next year.

Duran Duran thrilled super fans and closed out the Grandview stage singing their greatest hits, “Hungry Like The Wolf,” “A View to a Kill,” “The Reflex,” and “Girls on Film.”

Even though the New Wave British icons delivered a heart-stopping set, I’m going to call it a win for the ladies of KAABOO.

The Bangles, Sheryl Crow, and Edie Brickell rocked their sets with nostalgic music. “Manic Monday,” was dedicated to all the fans who had to face the workplace following KAABOO.

Crow’s “All I Want To Do,” was introduced as a song about LA. Los Angelenos in the crowd who made the traffic-filled trek down to Del Mar loudly cheered. Edie Brickell and The New Bohemians played “What I Am” to a large crowd fighting the warm afternoon sun.

Starting next year, KAABOO festival will be held at Petco Park, it was announced Sunday by managing partner Jason Felts. KAABOO will also get a regionally-related branding change with a new name, KAABOO San Diego. The fest will celebrate its sixth event with the move to the downtown San Diego ballpark and its surrounding venues on September 18-20, 2020.

“The location of Petco Park and its surrounding venues in downtown San Diego provides fans and artists alike the opportunity to enjoy everything that the vibrant metro area has to offer,” Felts said. “We couldn’t be more ecstatic about this partnership and our relocation,”

Said Erik Greupner, Padres president of business operations: “Our venue and the downtown Ballpark District offer the perfect setting for an event of this magnitude and further establishes Petco Park as the premier entertainment destination in Southern California.  We look forward to hosting an unforgettable and amazing weekend in the heart of downtown.”
