Frank Meyer and Cherie Currie Team on ‘Piece of Me’

“People tell me they like my music. People tell Cherie she changed their lives,” said punk stalwart Frank Meyer about Cherie Currie of The Runaways. “I get it. She certainly changed mine.”

When he was writing his new single “Piece of Me” from his solo debut “Living Between The Lines” (release date: March 25, 2025 via Kitten Robot), he asked Cherie to sing with him. “It was an honor to have her write and sing this duet with me.”

“The Runaways were a gigantic early influence on me and she has been instrumental in my music career,” he said. “At one of the earliest gigs by my band the Streetwalkin’ Cheetahs, Cherie jumped onstage with us and sang her hit ‘Cherry Bomb’ and shortly after asked us to support her and be her backing band on the road.”

Panik Flower Drops Single + Video ‘OCD’

NYC dreamgaze band PANIK FLOWER today releases their new single and video “ocd.” The single is the second track from rearview, their sophomore EP that arrives on April 30. “ocd” rolls off of vocalist Sage Leopold’s tongue as the pointed, yet syrupy, “obsessive consumption diet.” With a guitar riff floating in outer space, the song remains shackled to earth by a formidable rhythm section. Haunting and anxiety-ridden, “ocd” is an unending loop of cyclical bingeing — Stream “ocd” / Pre-save rearview

“The song explores the obsessive and addictive relationship we have with media consumption in today’s world and how that shapes us as individuals,” Leopold said. “It has a complete chokehold on our daily functions living in the modern world even when you’re aware of how toxic it is.”

Today’s single arrives with an erratic official video directed by Aji Bass. Filmed primarily at Porter Studio in Brooklyn, with additional footage shot in upstate NY, the video is a visual juxtaposition between stability and disorder.

Formed in 2022, Panik Flower has another EP under their belt titled Dark Blue. The new EP was produced, mixed, and recorded by James Duncan (Taraneh, Nara’s Room, Dead Tooth, Raavi) and mastered by Carl Saff (Drops Nineteens, Dr. Dog, Sonic Youth). rearview will be available everywhere on April 30.

SkyDxddy Releases ‘Mortal Kombat’ Track + Video

SkyDxddy has unleashed “Mortal Kombat” song and video leading up to her debut album on May 16. The genre-bending artist returns with a vengeance in “Mortal Kombat”—an emotional fusion of indie rock and pop. Following the raw intensity of her recent releases “Medusa” and “HER,” this latest track is a battle cry for anyone who’s ever had to stand up to their oppressor—and win. Pre-save “Mortal Kombat” here.

SkyDxddy delivers an unapologetic anthem of strength, fueled by razor-sharp melodies and cinematic sonics that hit as hard as the song’s namesake.

“‘Mortal Kombat’ is that bad bitch anthem that everyone needs,” SkyDxddy said. “After so many people have done you wrong, you’re bouncing back and saying, ‘No, I won’t let you break me. Actually, I’m stronger now than I’ve ever been.'”

The single is the next step toward SkyDxddy’s debut album, “Traumacore: Raw and Uncut,” dropping May 16. The album promises a deeply personal, no-holds-barred exploration of trauma, healing, and self-empowerment, cementing SkyDxddy as a fearless voice in alternative music.

Kristine W. Drops Catchy Dance Version of Sade’s ‘Smooth Operator’

Kristine W is lighting up dance floors once again with her reimagining of the Sade classic, “Smooth Operator.”  The soulful pop groove is the third release from Kristine’s soon-to-be-released album and pays homage to one of her favorite artists.

“I have been performing Sade since I put my first band together in college,” Kristine W explains.  The song was a staple in her Vegas show, where she would perform medleys of her favorite artists like Donna Summer, Prince, and Sade.

Kristine W’s “Smooth Operator” is available on all preferred digital streaming music platforms.

“I think we have all met guys who fancy themselves as smooth operators,” Kristine W said. “I know I have, a time or two or three. Smooth talkers who put up a front of being successful businessmen, educated and well- traveled. In Vegas, you see a lot of them in the casinos all dressed up, hitting on gals half their age, gambling, putting on their high roller shows.”

For her rendition of “Smooth Operator”, Kristine W worked with Mark Matson (Emoticon), a master at producing songs that combine electro chill and jazz elements.  It was important for Kristine that their chill version keep the integrity and vibe of the original.

Martha Wainwright Releases Self Titled Album on Vinyl

Twenty years ago, Martha Wainwright stepped out of her family’s illustrious shadow and announced herself to the world with her stunning self-titled debut album.

On May 23rd, [PIAS] will release this album on vinyl for the very first time. This classic debut will also be released on CD and digital with extra tracks and a bonus disc that features 14 rarities and alternate versions.

Gems include “Bring Back My Heart” featuring Rufus Wainwright, “Our Love” with Kate & Anna McGarrigle and “Far Away” featuring the late, great Garth Hudson, both never previously released.

“In the years before my first album was released, I was doing my own version of ‘artist development’ – playing a lot of gigs and going into the studio to make demos,” Martha remembers. “I got to New York City in 1998. It was a magical blur of fun and discovery, meeting musicians, playing and seeing shows and going into the studio. Hopping from bar to bar in the Lower East Side and Williamsburg.”

“These are some of the recordings that came out of that time,” Martha says of the bonus material. “Some were released as EPs that I would sell at shows but others have never been released. These are the ones that best reflect that time and the wild eclecticism I’ve always had, for better or worse, as an artist.”

To support the release, Martha will play shows this spring across North America, including the Troubadour in Los Angeles, CA and Le Poisson Rouge in New York, NY
