Yes the Foo Fighters are in the news. By all accounts CalJam 2018 appears to have been a great success, drawing acts like Joan Jett, Tenacious D and Iggy Pop.

But there’s a more intimate Foo Fighters-based event that’s equally anticipated:  Rami Jaffee’s party and showcase in the valley. Rami’s the keyboardist for the Foo Fighters who apparently enjoys hanging around diverse bandmates in his down time. The party he had at his Fonogenic Studios in the valley last week brought out the A-list in the music business.

Orianthi, Ivan Neville and Robby Krieger were the special guests. But that’s not to say Tom Freund, Kid Bloom, Jessy Greene, Jonny Kaplan and the other great musicians weren’t the featured acts, as they got star billing. Freund, Kid Bloom band, Greene and Kaplan are each talented in their own arenas.

But the every-so-often party is more of a fall celebration in a holiday spirit than it is a straightforward concert. It’s a gathering of the creatives, and those who appreciate the creative people of LA.

‘Artists and Poets Creating a Better Place’

“I just want to get the best people of LA together performing music, drinking and eating stuff, and really just to have conversations in person,” Rami told CaliforniaRocker.com. “Before the computer age, artists and poets were side by side out on the town creating a better place and LA people did great things. We are in need of great things now and this is the only way we can do it.”

There was great food and drink too, the menu was delectable with both BBQ brisket and ribs carefully cooked all day by guest chef Dave Grohl. Also served were Health-Ade Kombucha, Peroni Beer, SolarRain Nano Water, Sailor Jerry Rum, Rekorderlig Cider and Mexican Moonshine Tequila

Fonogenic Mission: Serving the Musicians

Fonogenic co-owners Rami and Ran give the musicians a good spotlight on their in-house studio stage, which is fully equipped with a state of the art KV2 sound system.

Eclectic yes, but that’s the way it is at Fonogenic studios, a staple in the LA recording scene for a range of well-known and “soon-to-be well-known” musicians.
