Social Media Sings The Blues About Cancellation of FYF Fest

By JOHN DALY

The Twittersphere reacted strongly to the news that FYF Fest 2018 featuring Janet Jackson and Florence + The Machine has been canceled. The social media users cited several reasons for the festival’s demise.

This weekend, ticketholders received the disappointing email that the festival featuring headliners Jackson and Florence + The Machine would not take place.

While media outlets cited slow ticket sales, the customers expressed a range of reasons for the festival’s demise.

Price Increase:

“I love Janet,” wrote Master Jackson. “I love Florence. But that’s all you gave us and wanted $250 for one less day than last year … no.”

Exposition Park Location:

Some posters expressed dissatisfaction with the venue at Exposition Park.

Michelle Carrasco wrote “RIP FYF. You’ve been dead to me since 2014.”

Oversaturation:

Said Bree Davies: “Maybe #fyffest’s cancelation is finally the sign of fest over saturation and people’s lack of desire or financial means to shell out for iterations of the same fest every year …”

Cheaper to see One-Offs:

And some concert goers were hopeful the acts booked for the July 21-22 fest would play in the area.

“Hopefully @TheOfficialMBV (My Bloody Valentine) will play an affordable show/s in Southern California …”
