LAS VEGAS – Nothing More is certainly off to a fantastic 2024, it’s definitely their year.
The Texan quartet has been working really hard between touring and writing new songs for their new and fifth upcoming album Carnal, which will be out on June 28th with Better Noise Music.
The first single released on January 19th, “If It Doesn’t Hurt,” is in the Top 10 on the Active Rock Radio Chart and it has been used as a theme song for Wrestlemania 40.
The most recent track “House on Sand” ( featuring I Prevail vocalist Eric Vanlerberghe) was released on April 12th (stream it here).
Nothing More started the year with a successful headlining European/UK Tour and is now playing shows in the United States, co-headlining the North American Tour with metalcore band Wage War.
Like numerous other bands, Nothing More was part of the Las Vegas Sick New World Festival line-up this year, and they added a Sin City side show on April 26th at the Brooklyn Bowl. The show was everything I expected it to be.
With supporting acts Sleep Theory and Veil of Maya, Nothing More hits the stage on time at 8:10pm, before Wage War, delivering an energetic and entertaining performance.
The 13-song set included “Angel Song,” a new track from their upcoming album featuring Disturbed’s David Draiman.
The Brooklyn Bowl was packed with excited attendees, whether you were up front at the barricade, in the balcony or way in the back, there really was no bad place in the venue to experience the show.
This is my third time seeing Nothing More and I have yet to be disappointed.
There is something special and unique about frontman Jonny Hawkins and how he connects with the audience.
Like the previous shows I witnessed in the past, Hawkins delivered a high energy performance and rarely slowed down during the set. Always with a smile on his face and an impeccable stage presence, he interacted and showed gratitude to the crowd.
The rest of the band was no different and sounded phenomenal. Guitarist Mark Vollelunga was on fire, shredding his pearl white guitar, barefoot and letting his fingers do the talking all night long. Bassist Daniel Oliver, while picking along his bass lines, you could see his grit and he contorts his face as he feels the music in his soul. The man behind the kit, drummer Ben Anderson kept the rhythm section tight and humming.
Nothing More write about real life experiences, often deep and troubling from talking about mental health to the loss of a loved one. They have the innate ability to not only make you hear the music but feel the music and this is what really sets them apart from the rest of the crowd.
With very little in the way of lighting effects, the band demonstrates that they surely need “Nothing More” than the basics to put on a memorable show.
Nothing More will join GodSmack for a summer tour in July plus other numerous big Festivals across the United States including Rocklahoma, Louder Than Life, Aftershock and more.
