The Buttertones will headline a special Dirty Penni Fest 4 and pay tribute to the King of the Surf Guitar, the late Dick Dale, it was announced.
Celebrating its fourth year, Dirty Penni Fest will be held at the Echo and Echoplex in Los Angeles on July 6. Dirty Laundry TV and Penniback Records present the event.
It will be the first Dirty Penni Fest appearance for The Buttertones, who chose to celebrate Dale, known for his Middle Eastern-influenced guitar music that came to be known as the California surf sound. Dale passed away March 16 at 81 years old.
The Buttertones have become a Southern California sensation in a few years, making the girls swoon with their surf-themed music and dapper casual style.

The Buttertones released their 11-song album Midnight in a Moonless Dream in 2018.
“We saw this as a rare and special opportunity for Buttertones fans, and fans of Dick Dale who have never heard of the Buttertones,” said Luis Ho of Penniback Records.
Dirty Laundry TV founder Michael Grodner executive produced, directed and co-wrote Joe Cardamone’s movie “The Icarus Line Must Die,” which bowed to accolades at film festivals and received critical praise in 2018.
