Lindsey Buckingham: Lawsuit Settlement Wasn’t ‘Twisting the Knife’ with Fleetwood Mac

By DONNA BALANCIA

Lindsey Buckingham, who just wrapped a U.S. Tour supporting his anthology album, told CBS This Morning that he and Fleetwood Mac settled the lawsuit he brought against the band over his ouster.

Buckingham said the settlement came “a couple of weeks” ago and all parties involved “all signed off on something.”

Buckingham said he never had ill intent with the lawsuit and says the settlement was mutually agreed upon.

‘Trying to Look at this with Wisdom’

“I’m not out there trying to twist the knife at all,” he said. I’m trying to look at this with some level of compassion some level of wisdom.

“I don’t feel like it was something that was my doing,” Buckingham said. “It hurt for a while. I did walk around with a very visceral reaction to that.”

The last time Buckingham played with Fleetwood Mac was a Grammy MusiCares weekend in  January, 2018.

“My relationship with Stevie is fragmented,” Buckingham said. “I think there is still  lot of love there.”

“I have not actually spoken to any of the band and it’s been almost a year now,” Buckingham said. “Only in the last couple of weeks I had gotten an email from Christine McVie.

“She wrote me an email and said ‘Dearest Lindsey, just know I had nothing to do with any of this. Know that I miss you so much. I believe deep in Stevie’s heart she would like you to come home.’

“Maybe underneath everything, Stevie would like to see me back already. that maybe she feels ambivalent about what’s going on,” he said. “This could be Christine’s wishful thinking or this could be Christine expressing wishful thinking.”

Buckingham said this year he’s putting together a retrospective and will tour behind it in the coming year.

“I like to look forward,” Buckingham said. “I was quite taken by curating a 35-year plus body of work. To go out and celebrate that has been quite cathartic so I am having a good time.”
