Jenny Lewis was joined by guest performer Jackson Browne on stage for a couple of songs at The Hollywood Palladium Saturday night.
During her anticipated show promoting her new album On The Line, Lewis brought out legendary songwriter Browne. The two performed a compelling arrangement of Browne’s classic “These Days,” and then sang a song they wrote together while in Haiti, called “Under The Supermoon.”
Lewis answered a ringing telephone on stage and it was Browne, who told her he was at the Palladium.
“Wanna come out and do a song with us?” Lewis asked. “You’re here.”
Then Jackson appeared on stage to thunderous applause.
“Hi everybody,” he said. “Last time I was here to see Keith Richards. The first time I was here was to see the Stones in 1972.

Browne said he and Lewis collaborated on a record that is due out this fall. Also taking part in the recording of the new collection were Jonathan Wilson, and The Head and the Heart’s John Russell, he said.
“The album will come out in the fall,” Browne told the Hollywood Palladium crowd. “The idea was either bring a song or make up a song there and she (Lewis) brought some songs down there. As soon as she got there she said she realized none of the songs she brought with her were gonna cover.
“The night after we went to this amazing voodoo ceremony she got up that morning and wrote this song,” Browne said. “That afternoon we cut it. And then she was gone in a puff of smoke.

Lewis’ fans run the gamut of age, race and gender, but what they all have in common is their obvious love for Lewis. The thousands on hand sang along with most of the songs Lewis performed. The audience was comprised of girls wearing prairie-style dresses with small cross-body purses and ex-punker or alternative music lovers. That’s because her songs run a wide range and blend of alternative, Americana and even a little bit of country.
