Ween, Sleater-Kinney, Dr. Octagon and Peaches are among the diverse performers at Joel Fischel’s Music Tastes Good fest this weekend in Long Beach presented by KCRW.
There’s an equally divergent collection of culinary offerings featuring New Orleans and California chefs who will be on hand in the Taste Tent, a staple of the popular annual event, this year presented in honor of its late founder, Joel Fischel.
Alvvays, Old 97’s, Los Lobos at #MTGLB
Rhye is a new addition to the musical lineup which also features Alvvays an Los Lobos as well as Old 97’s, Heaven17, Brain Story, Of Montreal and Dengue Fever.
Tickets are still available to the Taste Tent, featuring chefs from all over and many this year from Louisiana, including Todd Pulsinelli from August, Alfredo Noguiera of Cane and Table, and Michael Gulotta of Maypop of New Orleans. Long Beach-based chefs Gus Sverkos of KafeNeo, Sugar Sungkamee of Sugar and Philip Pretty of Restauration will all be among those on hand. Check out this link for more info on Taste Tent tickets.
Festival goers can pick up their wristbands a day early Alex’s Bar on Friday and check out a a free show with Black Joe Lewis and The Honeybears. There’s also an all-ages wristband pick-up party on Friday from 4pm-6pm at Fingerprints Music, with Slaves UK (DJ set).
After Parties at At The Top, Treefort
There are two official after parties, each night of Music Tastes Good. Both are free with the Music Tastes Good wristband (or $12 at the door). On Saturday, at At The Top, Treefort Music Fest hosts De Lux, Rituals of Mine, and Frankie & The Witch Fingers. On Sunday, at At The Top, there will be The Buttertones, Travesura, Rudy De Anda, Banes World, and MU$TY BOYZ.
