VIDEO: Watch Tom Petty and Heartbreakers’ Early Florida Days in Video ‘Gainesville’

By JOHN DALY

A new video of vintage Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers from their young days has been released for the single “Gainesville,” off the 60-track collection An American Treasure, out now.

The video is an emotional retrospective of the band’s beginnings, depicting various scenes from Petty and the band back in the Florida days.

“Gainesville” was recorded in 1998 during Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers’ Echo sessions, and the video was directed by Brantley Gutierrez and produced by Michael W. Abbott with Subtractive Inc.

Adria Petty and Dana Petty Executive Produce

Petty’s daughter, Adria Petty and Petty’s wife, Dana Petty, were the primary catalysts for the commission, creation and release of An American Treasure. They worked with Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench, and Petty’s studio collaborator, Ryan Ulyate, to curate the collection.

Campbell, Tench and Ulyate also produced An American Treasure. The Vinyl Edition will be released on Friday, Nov. 23 and is available for pre-order now HERE.
