Ben Gibbard covered the Radiohead song “Fake Plastic Trees” and took requests for songs on his first edition of “Ben Gibbard: Live From Home.”

In response to the social distancing and self quarantine mandates, the Death Cab For Cutie founder is livestreaming from his home every day at 4 p.m. PST. The livestream is on Death Cab For Cutie YouTube and Facebook pages.

Gibbard is taking requests from his vast catalogue of songs from DCFC and The Postal Service as well as covers.

In his first “show” on Monday, Gibbard gave those who tuned in to the livestream a setlist for the ages. With the exception of opening and closing songs from The Postal Service, Gibbard performed a range of DCFC songs including “Northern Lights,” “Crooked Teeth” and “California Zephyr.”

“I’m going to try to do this every day for the next two weeks at this time and these sets are going to be between somewhere between a half hour and an hour probably and I’m going to take a lot of requests,” Gibbard said. “I’m gonna pick some stuff and answer questions. We’ll just kind of roll with it because these are very strange times.”

Gibbard said he is still getting over a “weird flu” that caused him to cancel a solo show and a Death Cab show. From the video, it’s apparent he’s still getting over the cough. Gibbard told some anecdotes and stories, and also said he and his wife have been bicycling around Seattle.
