Hives Punk Rock Bowling Monday 2 - Donna Balancia

Almost 20 years after a smashing debut, the dapper Swedish punkers The Hives have released a new single “Good Samaritan” out digitally via AWAL.

Both “Good Samaritan” and “I’m Alive” are featured on a limited-edition, double A-side 7-inch record out June 28 via Third Man Records.

Dave Sardy (LCD Soundsystem, Marilyn Manson, Fall Out Boy) produces and the tunes were recorded in Los Angeles.

The Hives had successful outing at Punk Rock Bowling in Las Vegas, where they impressed the unimpressionable with a near-perfect set that included their hits and a compelling and physical performance.

“This a song about helping people help themselves by not helping them?” the band said in typical sardonic Hives tone. “Are they sarcastic or do they hate people now? Is this punk? You never know with these Hives and it’s been a while since I saw them so let’s all go see them again and see what they are on about? Musically faster than usual but a surprising dive into the chorus that feels like going into hyper-space. Now it’s not surprising anymore. Oh well.”
