Mini Mansions Release Most ‘Self-Reflective’ Record with ‘Guy Walks Into a Bar…’

By DONNA BALANCIA

Mini Mansions have released their album Guy Walks Into A Bar…, which the band says is its tested the band members’ friendships with one another.

“We’ve waited years for this day, and we can’t be more excited to release our third LP, Guy Walks Into a Bar… ” Michael Shuman of Mini Mansions said. “It wasn’t an easy record to make. It tested our interpersonal relationships within the band, as well as my own personal struggles in my past romantic relationship.

“But those hurdles have helped us to produce, as I see it, our most honest and self-reflective record to date. We hope you enjoy it and can feel the amount of blood, sweat, and tears that went into making it.”

The album was co-produced by Shuman and long time collaborator-mixer Cian Riordan.

Notably there are some well-known performers on the record including Alison Mosshart of The Kills in a duet, “Hey Lover” and backing vocals from Z Berg (former singer in The Like) on “Forgot Your Name” and “Living In The Future.”

The album was recorded at Barefoot Studios in Los Angeles in 2018.

Mini Mansions is comprised of Michael Shuman, Zach Dawes and Tyler Parkford. The band recently made its late night TV debut on NBC’s “Late Night With Seth Meyers.”

The band will be playing festivals and European gigs this summer.

Mini Mansions did their most extensive touring yet earlier in the year, including an appearance at The Teragram Ballroom.
