Iggy Pop takes a look at friendship in “I’ll See Big,” another musical collaboration with synth duo Underworld. Iggy and Underworld will drop a new EP Teatime Dub Encounters on July 27, via Caroline International.
The single is a look ahead and look back for the king of punk, whose friends are famous and not so famous.
Pop and Underworld previously released Bells and Circles.
What makes him an expert on this topic? Some of his friends are legendary, like David Bowie, Alice Cooper and Queens of The Stone Age, but he’s had friends who are regular folks too.

The Demanding as Friend Iggy Pop
“I started becoming demanding and I lost my friends they couldn’t stand anyone being demanding,” he speaks on the recording. “As a demanding person I got somewhere in life. I started having girlfriends. I was very demanding of them, but I didn’t let them be demanding of me. I started making big friends friends that could help me. Those friends are really demanding You don’t get a warm fuzzy feeling, but you get what you gotta have to get along. I mean that’s showbiz.”
Iggy wraps it up with a musing about the beyond.
“I’m getting a little older now I start to think about the friends that are gonna think of me when I move along,” he says. “There are one or two of ’em who will have a grin and a good memory of me they’re not the best fanciest people not even very good people frankly, their big claim to fame is they’re my friends, useless, expensive, maddening, pain-in-the-ass … friends.”
