PREMIERE: Fur Dixon Strikes with New Single ‘Don’t Tread On Me’

By DONNA BALANCIA

Fur Dixon is angry about all that’s going on with our country and she’s written a dynamite song about it that premieres here on CaliforniaRocker.com called “Don’t Tread On Me.”

“Don’t Tread On Me” by Dixon and her band WTFUKUSHIMA, is a devilishly angry, fun and fuzzy work that strikes at the heart of our collective U.S. strife. The song highlights the unique signature voice of Fur, the renowned former singer for The Cramps.

Check it out here:

Fuzztones, Dream Syndicate and Kitten Robot

“Don’t Tread on Me” features the hot guitar of Bernard Yin of Fuzztones, bass work by Dave Provost of Dream Syndicate and keyboards by Paul Roessler, all held to the beat with the intricate and snappy drumming of Dusty Watson of The Sonics. Roessler recorded and mixed the record and produced with Fur at the famous Kitten Robot, Roessler’s studio.

The bouncy tune is the first single released off Fur’s upcoming album, Return 2 Sender.

Dixon Gets Angry With ‘Don’t Tread On Me’

The song and the whole Return 2 Sender album reflects today’s shabby political climate, Fur said.

“I’m really angry about the state of the state,” she tells us. “The song is angry and the album is more angry than I usually go. But it’s really something.”

And like the coiled snake on the famous Gadsden flag, the song issues a familiar warning. For this day and age, and the tumultuous times we’re living in, the anger works.
