The Shrine rocks it. It’s as simple as that.

Josh Landau, Corey Parks and Jeff Murray have Shepard Fairey art on the cover of their new record “Never More Than Now,” they have a brand, they have merch. The gang is doing everything they’re supposed to.

The Shrine blasts a sound that blends the best of Rage Against The Machine with KISS. The band has a great live performance, loads of talent, and the band members are easy on the eyes. So why isn’t The Shrine filling large arenas?

Landau: Great Rock Guitar

But Landau and company did pack The Echo with screaming fans of rock at their record release party and so, mission accomplished.

The Shrine has been at it for at least 10 years and Landau and crew draw the crowds and put on a show so good you can’t take your eyes off the stage. He’s one of the best rock guitarists around. Period.  Bassist Parks is wild and shocking and drummer Murray is an expert at the genre.

Mustachio and All

Not sure if it’s because the rock genre isn’t as popular as it once was or because people are not buying records or what the deal is.  But the mustachioed rocker Landau is a studied musician who has obviously put in many hours perfecting this act. The guitar riffs are unbelievable, the songs are great and the act is extremely compelling.

Feels and Cheap Tissue were on the bill and these are two local bands that have gotten a lot of attention. Shannon Lay of Feels has a residency at the Echo and Laena Geronimo will be joining her Monday night for a solo performance.
