Hermosa Beach Summer Series Launched on Saturday with high energy performances by The Score, Kitten, The Wrecks and Your Favorite Color.
The Score and The Wrecks tried out some new songs on the crowd and Kitten kept the crowd on their toes with a physical performance.
Kitten is fronted by Chloe Chaidez, known for her climbing, jumping dancing and strong vocals. Chaidez has had her share of experiences as a front woman, she’s been impressing the crowds since she was a teenager. The band is comprised of Dave Stagno (vox, guitar), Max Tsiring (keys), Parker Silzer IV (guitar), and sibling rhythm section Blu and Rex DeTiger (bass and drums, respectively).
Kitten had a busy 2018, touring relentlessly and releasing the Pink Champagne EP and various singles
The Wrecks have a hit with the Jet cover of “Are You Gonna Be My Girl,” which they played in Hermosa. The Thouand Oaks-based band consists of Nick Anderson (vocals/guitar), Nick Schmidt (guitar), Westen Weiss (guitar), Aaron Kelley (bass), and Billy Nally (drums). The Wrecks are influenced by groups like The Strokes, Pixies, and Weezer. Their sound has substance but are offbeat enough and a certain quirk that give them their signature sound.
Headliners The Score had the audience on their feet with upbeat tunes, with Eddy Anthony on vocals and Edan Dover on keyboards. Your Favorite Color, all sporting red jumpsuits, opened the festival.
Sunday was another great day of music with music from Iglu and Hartley, The Orphan The Poet and School of Rock. The festival continues next weekend with White Buffalo, Mariach El Bronx and others. Go to the Hermosa Beach Summer Series Website for more info.
