Singer-songwriter k.d. lang performs a concert celebrating the 25th anniversary of the 1992 album Ingénue on the show k.d. lang – Landmarks Live in Concert – A Great Performances Special. The show premieres nationwide Friday, Dec. 14 at 9 p.m. on PBS.

The renowned singer will perform the complete Ingénue album in full from the Majestic Theater in San Antonio, Texas. Ingénue, written by lang and co-writer and co-producer Ben Mink, allowed lang to experiment with jazz, cabaret and Tin Pan Alley songwriting.

The breakout hit “Constant Craving” is featured on the album, along with “Save Me,” “Wash Me Clean,” “Season of Hollow Soul” and “Miss Chatelaine.” The televised concert also includes the Leonard Cohen song “Hallelujah” and an unreleased song by lang and Joe Pisapia, “Sleeping Alone.”

Lang approached country music in a new and interesting way when she emerged from anonymity to stardom 26 years ago. Her collaborators include Tony Bennett and Roy Orbison.

Ingénue was a change in vernacular and vocabulary in that it was personal-finding some romantic space,” lang said. “It was time. It was me. I had gotten to a time and point where I wanted to be me.”

Executive producer is Daniel Catullo III. Landmarks Live in Concert past episodes have featured Andrea Bocelli live in Florence, Brad Paisley at West Virginia University, Foo Fighters at the Acropolis in Athens and will.i.am with Black Eyed Peas at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
