Karen O and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs stole the show at Ohana Fest 2018, the annual concert at Dana Point hosted by Eddie Vedder.

“When I grow up I want to be Karen O,” Vedder said in recapping Saturday’s performers.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Karen O

Wearing a silver glitter track suit with her name emblazoned on her bottom, Karen played to the crowd, spitting water into the air, tossing a towel that ended up on a photographer and offering the microphone to the audience members. It’s a good thing she carries an extra mic because she went on to beat the crap out of one of the mics, slamming it on the stage repeatedly.

Ohana Fest Artist Inclusive:

The show was inclusive of musicians and artists of all kinds. Jeffro and his woodworking was one of the artists on display and sign language interpreters accompanied Yeah Yeah Yeahs and other sets, courtesy of SoCal Terp interpreting.  Karen said it was the first time her baby was able to be on hand to watch her perform.

LA Locals Lauren Ruth Ward and Plague Vendor

Lauren Ruth Ward and Plague Vendor represented the LA locals on Saturday. Plague Vendor got plenty of props from Vedder who opened Saturday with an impromptu noon performance. Ward captured the crowd with her enthusiastic show, with one member of the audience calling out to her that he would go see her again. Nombe, Billy Raffoul, Lilly Hiatt, Bahamas, Liz Phair, Desure and Johnny Roundhouse rounded out Saturday’s lineup. Beck and Mumford and Sons were Sunday’s toppers.
