It’s been a flurry of activity recently for Paul McCartney.
He’s got two singles out called “Come On To Me” and “I Don’t Know” off his upcoming album Egypt Station.
But one of the most anticipated things he’s done recently is appear with James Corden on The Late Late Show with James Corden segment Carpool Karaoke.
It’s an emotional episode overall, with a particularly interesting story of how The Beatles hit song “Let It Be” came to be, at the 5:17 mark.

McCartney Serenades Corden in Family Home
McCartney takes Corden on a tour of Liverpool and talks music while Corden does a bit of dressing in Beatles period gear.
A Long Journey for Paul
“It makes me realize how long the journey has been to date, because we really lived here,” McCartney said to Corden when the two were inside the former Beatle’s Liverpool home. McCartney celebrated his 76th birthday on June 18.
In addition to reminiscing about playing “She Loves You” in the family bathroom, McCartney serenades Corden with “When I’m 64” on the piano at the house.
McCartney also performed a surprise gig at a local pub, Philharmonic, where McCartney used to play, giving a thrill to the regulars.
Surprise Show In The Pub
In the pub, McCartney and his regular band, including California-based guitarist Brian Ray, played some of The Beatles classics like “Hard Day’s Night,” “Love Me Do” and “Back In The USSR.” McCartney invited Corden to sing “Hey Jude” and there were some happy fans in the house.
