By DONNA BALANCIA
The Foo Fighters are recording a new album to be released this year, sources confirmed to CaliforniaRocker.com. The name of the album or its contents are not yet known.
The Foo Fighters had been on hiatus for 19 months, but will headline Bottle Rock Festival in Napa this May, it was recently announced.
The album, which insiders say has been in the works for a while, is still under wraps. The source told California Rocker they were not allowed to disclose any information.
“They’ve been recording and it’s no secret,” said the source. “Things didn’t look so good last year, when Dave sent out a letter to the fans that was pretty dire and it it was pretty lengthy. But there is definitely a new album in the works.”
No details are available about the album, which is being recorded in Southern California. The Bottle Rock Festival is set for May 26-28 in Napa. The Foo Fighters, Tom Petty and Maroon 5 headline.
Sonic Highways, the band’s eighth album was released on Nov. 10, 2014. The creation of the record — during which Grohl traveled through the United States — was filmed and released as Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways a complimentary series to the album.
