BOISE, Id. – In order to enter the Knitting Factory I had to walk down an alley and pass a smash burger stand that smelled so good that I was almost willing to forget why I was there in the first place. After an amount of time that I will never admit out loud, I came to my senses and went inside. It only took about 10 seconds of the opening act to convince me that not spending the entire night consuming those burgers was absolutely the right choice.

Who was the act that tore me away from the heavenly burgers that are only available on Friday nights? Boston born maestro who seamlessly combines alternative rock and hip hop, Layto. Accompanied by only a drummer, Layto played a short, but memorable set that excited the audience which included “five4three2one,” “in bed with a psycho,” “Dead To Me,” and “IOU.”

Finally, Matthew Brue and David Butler, the incredible electronic alternative pop duo known as MISSIO took the stage. They opened with “Wolves” from “Can You Feel The Sun,” the hypnotic and obsession worthy song “Fuck It” from their new album, “I Am Cinco,” and “I Don’t Even Care About You” from their 2017 debut album, “Loner.”

I have waited years for the opportunity to see MISSIO live and this has quickly proven to be a show that shouldn’t be missed. What makes MISSIO a truly incredible duo to watch live is their ability to jump from high speed electronic madness to slower, emotive grit so effortlessly and naturally, while still being authentic to themselves.

They continued their set with “Vagabond,” “Underground,” “Good Vibrations,” “Rad Drugs,” “Villain,” “Bottom of the Deep Blue Sea,” “Aztec Death Whistle,” “Sing To Me,” “Can You Feel The Sun,” “Everybody Gets High,” “I See You,” and “Twisted.”

Of course, the night didn’t just end there. MISSIO played “KDV,” “Fall Into A Black Hole,” and everyone’s favorite MISSIO song, “Middle Fingers” as encores.
