Say Girl Say is set to release their sophomore album, Let My Hair Down.
Say Girl Say’s music is powered by ukuleles, guitar, bass, percussion, keys, horns, bells, and more, punctuated with electronic loops and thumps, written, played, and masterminded by Brigette and Suad. The record is produced by birdmagic.
With new album Let My Hair Down, Say Girl Say takes the distinctive, magnetic vocals, and soul that first so endeared them to Houston’s rich arts scene and ups the ante.
“Every piece of the human body has its own frequency,” Brigette Yawn said. “When you hit a perfect third, fifth, or octave, there’s a physical sensation. Time starts to slow down.”
Yawn’s home is Houston where she makes her indie pop with Suad Ihsan. The duo creates electro-spiked music with engaging harmonies and acoustic ukuleles.
“Ukulele has and always will be a weapon in our artillery,” says Suad. “But we wanted to grow into more advanced instrumentation––a more diverse collection of sounds.”
