Sting and Shaggy Album Gets Special Release Date
The album 44/876 is expected on an interesting date: 4/20.
“Reggae music has obviously been a great influence in my own musical DNA,” Sting said. “I spent a lot of time in Jamaica in the ’80s. I wrote some of my best songs there – “Every Breath You Take” and “King of Pain” – so I felt I owed a debt to Jamaica.”
“It all ties back to 44/876,” said Shaggy. “The Englishman comes to Jamaica and is embraced by all these Jamaicans, showing the influence he has had on the island as much as the island has had on him. All that really transcends to the type of music we are making. From the 44 to 876, we are connected.”
Sting and Shaggy To Hit the Road
Sting and Shaggy will hit the road this summer when the two Grammy-award winning musicians take their show on a European tour.
Sting wove Jamaican rhythms into the album 44/876 and with his band The Police. Shaggy, born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, cut his musical teeth in the dance hall clubs of Brooklyn and Manhattan. They joined forces to record “Don’t Make Me Wait” as a tribute to the Caribbean sounds that influenced them both.
