Singer-songwriter MILCK has debuted “Oh, Mother,” a poignant track that delves into the intricate dynamics of the mother-daughter relationship.
With “Oh Mother,” MILCK, whose given name is Connie Kimberly Lim, delves into family acceptance and her experience as an immigrant daughter coping with trauma and bicultural healing.
MILCK gained widespread public recognition following her song “Quiet,” which was performed at the 2017 Women’s March. Her debut EP This Is Not The End was released in 2018.
MILCK has come to the forefront in songwriting and advocacy, and “Oh Mother” is a solid follow up to her recent hit “Your Child, My Child” with Natasha Bedingfield.
“Oh, Mother” is a testament to resilience and the courage to own your truths, MILCK said. The track tackles themes of identity, motherhood, and personal growth.
Originally part of a family album project that was initially shelved for not being “universal” enough, MILCK’s persistence has now brought this deeply personal song to the public, and it is expected play a significant part of a larger musical project, soon to be announced.
Milck’s second EP, Into Gold, was released in early 2020, its lead single is “If I Ruled the World.”
MILCK is set to appear and perform on June 20th at the Girl Up Summit.
