Bruce Springsteen turns 70 today and we take a look back at The Boss through rare images over the years.
Few rockers have impacted the American landscape as has the Freehold, N.J.-born Springsteen, whose poetic and sweeping music and lyrics reflected the times, and paved the way for a new genre of music.
The energetic septuagenarian has a lot more in store — and in his online store. In addition to a new record, a new movie coming out, a Broadway play and the film “Springsteen On Broadway,” on Netflix, he’s releasing a treasure trove of live shows through his website BruceSpringsteen.net.
A jewel in the live bootleg crown is the Sept. 19, 1978 show at the Capitol Theatre in Passaic, N.J., that has 24 tracks, remastered from the broadcast. The concert opens with “Badlands,” and Bruce and the E. Street Band also perform tunes including “Thunder Road,” “Jungleland,” “Not Fade Away – She’s The One,” and “Born To Run.”

His perhaps most notable, classic album, Born To Run was released in 1975. But Springsteen has come a long way since then, with the new album out called Western Stars nd the feature film companion to which bowed at the Toronto Film Fest and will get a fall release.
